“ CoCo  [ Brutalhappytapes ] / Corinna Iris Tröger is a Berlin-based experimental vocalist, sound artist/musician, contemporary artist and curator, using her own language for inner disciplines and places. Her development of “Brutalhappytapes” included sounds based on recordings with dictaphones, digital media, objects, instruments, sounds of places and her voice,  to document places/moments in sound, to find the unsought secret of each place.

Starting with a preference for cassettes and dictaphones, the artist dealt with the question of perfection and mutation in the field of biology and sound. Starting in Berlin with a scholarship for biotechnology at HTW Berlin in connection with music-scores and the possibility to explore the beauty of changes and their possibilities in music by studying mutations in sound as well as in biology.  She is also working as an graduated occupational therapist ( Johannesbad-Akademie ) since 2000.

Her works are in the areas of “non-music” and “new contemporary music”. Inner and  outer mutations as a gift for development and pleasure. Her sound is non-defined in the place of experimental compositions, Cut up, “Chanson Obscure” ,”Beatbox Kaputt” and Pop. Error-music which starts to transform “anti-lore”-music into pieces and beats. Corinna Iris Tröger has performed her pieces in Europe, America and Japan and at various festivals for contemporary music such as the prelude to Transmediale Berlin, Schwankhalle Noisefestival Bremen, Sonic Circuits Festival Washington, New York Trans-Pecos, and Heroins of Sound Festival Berlin Meetup.

The artist deals with experimental music and the medium of radio. She has worked as a radio announcer/speaker for radio dramas at ARD Mediathek / InterInterOhrorbit / SofsonicGG and did live broadcasts and shows in the area of music / performance in Berlin and Brussels

District Berlin—–, Radio On BerlinDIY Church Radio , Radio Picnic Brussels

She is the founder and curator of the experimental concert series “Ohrengala” Berlin 2010-2015, in collaboration with Audition Records (Mexico). Cofounder of the non-profit artspace Beiroy e.V. aka Beiruth / Ziegrastr. 13 Berlin-Neukölln. Curation of concerts and performances/exhibitions as well from 2010 till 2015.

Which perception corresponds to the truth? A sensual-participative exhibition visit

with Anjouna Novak and Corinna Iris Tröger

Entering the first room of the exhibition Another World by Tamil artist Christopher Kulendran Thomas, loud voices immediately become audible. Accompanied by changing, intense background noises, loud music in between. The sound belongs to a large, five-panel screen. Moving images can be seen there, changing in rapid succession. Opposite, endless, densely overgrown forest areas can be seen on a huge screen.

What can be seen here? What do the voices and sound convey?

Participants are invited to explore The Finesse video work in three groups. The focus will be on narrowing down the different sensory perceptions. In an active exchange, we then ask ourselves the questions: what is the subject of the video work? Which of the different perceptions corresponds to the truth? How are realities and stories constructed from subjective perceptions?

How can the objects of Rudolf Belling be arranged and performed? Directed by the sound / performance artist and singer Corinna Iris Tröger / CoCo, we are investigating this question. Methods and questions about the development of a score of a sound piece and a performance are presented and worked together in the group. Experiments with our own voice, movement, as well as sound and sound recordings, are related to the works of Belling and combine them into a sound final performance.

On an impulse I cut away a helix and carried it back to my brain and planted it in the sponge
bed below my tongue. All night it sang to me … telling me of my echos, my shadow and me …

“What are you doing?” She asked and will ask
“Listening.” I answered and will answer
“To what?” She asked and will ask
“The thoughts.” I answered and will answer.

On three evenings in April District hosts Softsonic GG, a Live Audio Drama by the Berlin based collective Polyphrenic Creatures. By connecting ritual and rhythm with borrowings from performance, installation, music,
and radio play Softsonic GG takes its guests on a journey along liquefactions of mental, linguistic and physical states. Based on their examination of digital communication structures –from post-fact to echo– Polyphrenic Creatures explore new embodiements for thought formations and rehearse listening as a proactive type of action.

The rituals for the novices of the Futurisierende GG Gedankengesellschaft [Futurising GG Thoughtsociety] begin in the artificial water scenery – resort, ecotope, décor, beach – in the garden of Malzfabrik. At the threshold between inside and outside a “Mental Asylum” is being evoked: a type of brain sponge that symbolizes the agglomeration of experience and perception in the head region. With shrunk, hybrid bodies, equipped with clicks and scrolls and amplified by a techno-organic choir, the Polyphrenic Creatures straggle through the sponge scape of synapse fields, memory sinkholes and crumbling information facades.

Since 2014 the interdisciplinary collective Polyphrenic Creatures founded by Ulrike Bernard and Amelie Marei Loellmann delves into utopian and phantastic spheres under the guise of reality. In their third production Softsonic GG they examine current communication technologies for their potential to alter edifices of thought and to expand disembodied consciousness. Together with performers Cornelia Herfurtner, John MacLean and Ayca Nina Zuch, Bernard and Loellmann generate a mental-sensual spectrum that echoes Kathy Acker’s exclamation GET RID OF MEANING. YOUR MIND IS A NIGHTMARE THAT HAS BEEN EATING YOU: NOW EAT YOUR MIND (Empire of the Senseless, 1988).

Coco – Crystal Garden
The sound of Crystal Garden is non-defined in the place of Cut Up, Noise, Experimental, made with Dictaphones/Piano/Cdj and Casio RZ1. She is telling the story of her own lost and found heart memories, lost and found bodies, walking through a Crystal Garden to a new corner from which the creatures looking after yourself and laughing with you. For the cassette she did some recordings and piano recordings at a hospital hall in Berlin to understand and find a language in this specific time to transform very personal moments into the “Eight Hearts” and the “Crystal Garden”, as she calls it.

Planetary Cymatic Resonance – Cosmic Sonification Through Planet Frequencies
Experience an electronic experimental live performance that creates a synthesis between sonic expression, scientific calculation, modern technology and ancient wisdom. PCR create dense soundscapes and a beautiful ambience, calculated from natural frequencies found in our universe like the movement of planets.

CoCo is a Berlin-based sound artist that uses her own language for inner disciplines and places. Her sounds are based on recordings with dictaphones, objects, sounds of places and her voice, to document places/moments in sound, to find the unsought secret of each place. Inner and outer mutations as a gift for development and pleasure. Her sound is non-defined in the place of Cut Up/Catnoize/Experimental  and Chanson Obscure Electronic. Recent work Crystal Garden [Brutalhappytapes / Tape at Staalplaat Record Store Berlin and Bandcamp).

Planetary Cymatic Resonance is an audiovisual project based on tunings calculated from natural frequency phenomena found in our universe. The movements of our planets are expressions of those permanently standing waves that surround us like fields of information. By transferring this vibrating information into hearing range and listening, we can relate to it and resonate consciously. Theorie und Praxis des Lärms
Freitag, 24. Juni 2016, 20.00 Uhr

PYTHON VS COBRA + COCO + HUH – the discussion
CD-R (ltd.ed. 33 copies)

About:

“The first of these three new releases by Attenuation Circuit is by two duo’s, Python vs Cobra in one corner and Huh in the other corner, both of them collaborating with vocalist and tape manipulator Coco, and on ‘some pieces’ Yuko Under on electronics. All of these pieces were recorded in Tokyo last year and all nine are quite violent explosions of free styled improvised music, based on two drums, two guitars and electronics. This onslaught lasts twenty-six minutes by which time you are entirely satisfied; it’s like eating a huge dinner. Huge but a nice dinner also. It’s not always about pure free improvisation noise but they also can tune down a bit, or simply rock out. It’s quite a varied bunch of pieces here.”

(Frans De Waard, Vital Weekly #958)

2013 Release at Museruole

ON THE AIR JukeBox from Muserole archive.org :

MuseRuole is a festival dedicated to experimental music and puts contemporary female musicians and performers at its centre. It is a journey of discovery into the wide world of current musical research, looking for specifically female modes of expression, with its own grammar and personal style.
This year (2013) we focus on the theme of radio as a space for musical research and a medium of technological innovation, including  notions of sending and receiving in equal measure.
Even today radio is an important method of communication: it remains one of the most powerful, cheapest, accessible and world spanning of media. Despite its long history and being one of the first mass media of the last century, radio has always been able to renew itself, adapting to changing realities and remaining in step with the future. And so radio is an instrument of disseminating knowledge as well as a research space for new technologies and formats: as a global platform it offers the possibility to develop innovative networks and ways to connect.
